Details Released On National Drug Takeback Day In Wakefield
The upcoming event provides the public with a chance to easily dispose of expired and unused medications.
WAKEFIELD, MA — The Wakefield Police Department is participating in National Drug Takeback Day.
The event is Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wakefield Public Safety Building at 1 Union St. The nationwide effort is sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
This national initiative provides an opportunity for the public to dispose of expired, or unwanted pharmaceutical drugs and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.

"For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications that too often become a gateway to addiction," police wrote. "Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal at close to 5,000 local drop-off locations nationwide. In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed over 10,000 tons of medication from circulation since its inception."
