Mrs. Mary (Pappadopoulos) Daiopulos, 77, of Reading, Massachusetts, a well-known and admired early childhood education teacher in the Wakefield school system for 42 years, passed away December 18th at Lahey Clinic, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of fifty one years, Arthur C. Daiopulos.
Mary was born in Sparta, Greece on October 7, 1936, daughter of the late
Speros and Helen (Aliferopoulos) Pappadopoulos.
She was predeceased by her sister, Edith (Pappadopoulos) Christopulos and her late husband Andrew, and her brothers Christos Pappadopoulos and Nicholas Pappadopoulos.
Mrs. Daiopulos came to this country with her family as a child and lived in the Acre section of Lowell for many years.
A graduate of Bartlett Junior High and Lowell High School (class of 1955), she later received a bachelor's degree from the former Lowell State Teachers College. In 1980, she earned a master's degree from Fitchburg State College. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and a member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell.
Mary and Arthur shared a love for nature, history, children and family. Mary enchanted all who met her, especially the little ones. Her unconditional love illuminated many and will be missed by all. May her memory be eternal.
Mary is also survived by her sister-in-law Iphigenia Vasiliades (wife of the late Theocharis Vasiliades) of Brighton, MA, her sister-in-law Eileen Pappadopoulos of Andover, MA, her nephew Charles Vasiliades of Brighton, MA, her niece Athena Mazerall and her husband James of Brighton, MA, her niece Elaine (Christopulos) Otto and her husband Greg of Germantown, TN, her nephew George Christopulos and his wife Donna of Andover, MA, her nephew Spiro Christopulos and his wife Demetra of Andover, MA, her nephew Spiro Pappadopoulos and his wife Megan of Boston, MA, her niece Adrienne Schlow and her husband Michael of Boston, MA and her grand nieces and nephews Maria, Madeline, Kanella, Alexandra, Andreas, Nikki, Georgina, Evan, Petra and Axelle.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends will be received at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Lewis St. Lowell on Saturday morning, December 21st from 9:00am to 10:00am. A funeral service will follow at 10:00am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery.
