Located on Wakefield’s West Side atop a large hill sits the beautiful planned community of Wincrest. The site was previously home to Our Lady of Nazareth Academy, but in 2012 a developer purchased the land that stretched over 19 acres covering both Stoneham and Wakefield. The Wincrest Community features 47 colonial style homes, tree lined streets, sidewalks that stretch along both sides of the road and are frequently filled with neighbors walking their dogs, out for a run, and kids riding their bikes.

14 Winship sits at the Wakefield entrance to Wincrest. Built in 2013/2014 and features 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a large home office, fireplaced family room with vaulted ceilings and custom built-in shelving, there is an open kitchen and dining area in addition to the formal living and dining rooms. The basement is almost entirely finished and provides a very flexible living space. There is currently a play area, home theater and entertainment space and a separate room that could be used as either an additional office, guest space or fitness room. A bonus third full bathroom is also on this level, lots of storage, easy maintenance flooring throughout, recessed lighting and electric baseboard heating. The large utility room also adds another great storage option.

You’ll find beautiful light stained oak floors covering the main two levels of the home. Upstairs there is a large master suite, with dual walk-in California Closets, a large bathroom with a double vanity, soaking tub and separate stand up shower. There are three equal sized bedrooms and another full bath on this floor with tons of natural light.

Venture outside and you’ll find a large trex deck off the dining area with steps down to the fenced yard. The current owners have meticulously refreshed to include a custom stone patio with fire pit, white vinyl fencing and additional landscaping. There are so many more features to love about this home - including an oversized 2-car garage, surround sound, vaulted ceilings, a laundry room with side by side washer and dryer, a mud room just off the garage with custom built-ins and storage bench, a custom walk-in pantry with great storage, multi-zone irrigation, maintenance free siding and fencing, and abundant storage. The home is flooded with light and has over 35 windows, a professionally landscaped yard and a backyard that gets wonderful afternoon light.

Let’s talk about the location. Wakefield is just a few miles outside Boston but sits inside of 128. You’re in close proximity to 93/95 highways, a few commuter rail stations and the park and ride to Logan. Downtown there are many wonderful eateries, a few of my favorites include Tonno, Remedy Exchange, The Bread Shop, Public Kitchen, and Sakura. If you’re looking for coffee, you have your pick! Coffee creations, Remedy Exchange, Cibo, and of course Dunkins. You can also find one of the prettiest libraries in the area right on Main Street. Most people are familiar with Lake Quannapowitt, but did you know that you can take sailing lessons at the yacht club and during the warmer months you can rent paddle boats and kayaks. There are two large playgrounds? There are movies in the summer, pop-up yoga classes, new pickle ball courts and a great weekend farmers market.

If you’re looking for fun things to do with children in our area, checkout my site: www.UrbanSuburbanKids.com where I break down all the local parks, playgrounds, trails, animals, swimming classes, gymnastics + dance studios, music lessons and more! This was created as a free resource to the community and it’s something I made while doing research for my own family. You can also follow along on IG where I share all the local events, activities, classes and pop-ups for families.

What does Wakefield have for inventory right now? Not much! As of March 1st the market looks like this:

  • Wakefield: 12 single family homes, 13 pending
  • Melrose: 9 single family homes, 13 pending
  • Reading: 9 single family homes, 17 pending
  • Medford: 7 single family homes, 20 pending
