Upcoming Lane Closures In Wakefield: What To Know

The daily closures are to accommodate road resurfacing.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Mass DOT has announced nightly lane closures along North Avenue in Wakefield and Walkers Brook Drive in Reading.

The closures are for road resurfacing at the ramps of 95/128.

Lane closures will be Sunday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Tuesday until May 16.

The Town of Wakefield released the following statement on the closures:

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be implementing nightly lane closures along Walkers Brook Drive in Reading and North Avenue in Wakefield. These closures will occur Sunday through Friday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., starting May 7th, and continuing through Friday May 16th. The work will allow crews to conduct pavement resurfacing and related work safely and effectively.

Traffic management plans will vary by location. Alternating traffic and/or detours will be used as needed to complete the work safely. Ramps to and from I95/128 may be closed intermittently for short durations for this work. Appropriate detours will be in place for each closure.

This work is being completed under a District Wide Resurfacing contract with D&R General Contractors serving as the prime contractor.

All work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Drivers traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution.
