Voting-By-Mail In Wakefield: What To Know
Here's how to apply to vote-by-mail in the Sept. 1 primary and the Nov. 3 presidential election.

WAKEFIELD, MA — Vote-by-mail ballot applications should soon hit the mailboxes of Wakefield residents, if they haven't already. Applications were mailed out by the Secretary of State's office July 15.
It is important to note that any voter registered as "unenrolled" (commonly referred to as “Independent”) must specify on the application which ballot they want mailed to them, i.e., Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green-Rainbow. This application is also available online.

- Once complete, the vote-by-mail application should be submitted to the Office of the Town Clerk in Town Hall, located at 1 Lafayette Street in Wakefield.
- To apply for a State Primary ballot, this application must arrive at the Clerk's Office by August 26.
- For the November 3 Presidential Election, submit your application by October 28.
In order to ensure that every registered voter receives an application, Town Clerk Betsy Sheeran will also include an application in August's Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department mailing.

Voter registration(s) and "change of party affiliation" will be accepted until Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. People may register to vote online or in person at the office of the Town Clerk.
