Wakefield Democratic Town Committee Hosts Candidate Forum on April 9
Nonpartisan Forum Invites Candidates for Contested Town Election Races To Speak
The Wakefield Democratic Town Committee will hold a Candidate Forum Wednesday, April 9, at 7 P.M. at the Americal Civic Center's Heritage Room. Participants include candidates for Treasurer, School Committee, and Town Council. This nonpartisan forum is an opportunity for candidates to make brief statements about their qualifications and reasons for running, as well as to answer questions from the audience. The forum is open to the public, as space allows.
The treasurer's race is one of only two contested races this year, with four candidates vying for one part time, paid position. (The other contested race is for Constable.) Candidates are current Town Councilors Edward Dombroski and Michael McLane, and Andrew McCarthy and Peter McManama. McLane's term on the Council ends this year. Dombroski's term is up a year from now. If elected, he will vacate his seat on the council and a special election will take place to fill the vacancy.
