Wakefield Football Team To Play For Spot In State Championship

Wakefield won its way into the MIAA Division III football Final Four with an upset of Plymouth South last week.

WAKEFIELD, MA — The Wakefield Memorial High School varsity football team will face North Attleboro in the coming days with a spot in the Division III MIAA state championship game on the line.

The Wakefield football team has continued an undefeated record in recent weeks to win its way into the MIAA Final Four. Ranked sixth overall in Division III, Wakefield first downed Masconomet Regional High School on Nov. 4 in the Round of 16. The team then bested Plymouth South on Thursday of last week.

Wakefield went 8-0 through the regular season. North Attleboro posted a 5-2 win-loss record. Despite the losses, the MIAA ranked North Attleboro second overall in Division III, factoring in opponent strength among other factors in final power rankings.
