Wakefield Opens Kindergarten Registration For 2025-26 School Year

WAKEFIELD, MA — The Wakefield Public Schools offer tuition-free, full-day kindergarten to all students. Children must be five years old by September 1, 2025, to enroll in kindergarten. Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will take place from January 16 to February 3, 2025.

Registration Process:

Online Registration: Complete the online registration form at bit.ly/wpspowerschoolenroll.

Doyle Early Childhood Center: If your child currently attends the Doyle Early Childhood Center, email registration@wpsk12.org to confirm their enrollment.

School Assignments:

School assignments are based on the Wakefield Public Schools Zone Lookup list (https://bit.ly/wpsschoolzones), class size, special education needs, and registration during the assigned period (January 16th-February 3rd). Some addresses are in a "buffer zone" with two school options. Assignments will be made based on the listed criteria. You will be notified of your child's school via email.

Required Documentation:

Once your child's school is confirmed, the school secretary will contact you about submitting the following documents:-Birth Certificate-Immunizations-Home Language Survey-Proof of Residency-Proof of Occupancy-Proof of Identification

Virtual Kindergarten Information Meeting:

A Virtual Kindergarten Information Meeting will be held via Zoom on March 27, 2025, at 7:00 PM. A meeting link will be sent out closer to the date.

Kindergarten Screening:

Kindergarten screening will take place at your child's assigned school in June 2025. Your school will contact you with screening and orientation information later in the school year.
