Wakefield Police Welcome New Officer

Officer Kevin Carey graduated from the Lowell Police Academy last week and officially joined the Wakefield Police on Monday.

WAKEFIELD, MA — The Wakefield Police Department gained a new member earlier this week with the swearing in of Officer Kevin Carey on Monday.

The police held a ceremony to welcome Carey just a matter of days after he graduated from the Lowell Police Academy on Sept. 30, as noted in an announcement on social media.

Town Clerk Betsy Sheehan administered Carey’s oath.

Wakefield Deputy Police Chief Craig Calabrese, Chief Stephen Skory, Town Council Chair Mehreen Butt, Town Council Vice-Chair Jonathan Chines, Town Administrator Stephen Maio and police Lieutenant Joseph Anderson were all on hand alongside Carey for his oath ceremony.

Having joined the Wakefield police force, Carey will spend the coming weeks working with field training officers on additional training, police noted.

“Welcome Officer Carey and congratulations,” the Wakefield Police wrote in their announcement.
