Local farm stand patrons have pledged to spend $300 at the Wakefield Farmers Market as part of a national program.

Wakefield Farmers Market shoppers are showing their support for local farmers through an annual program run through the American Farmland Trust.

The program is called "I Love My Farmers Market" and it encourages farm stand patrons to pledge money that they plan to spend at the Farmers Market.

For the 2013 running of the program, which is now in its fifth year, the Wakefield Farmers Market was among the top 100 markets with the most support.

As of the end of July, patrons had pledged to spend $300 at the Wakefield Farmers Market.
