Friday calls for sunny skies, with a high near 84, according to the National Weather Service. Light and variable wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning. At night, NOAA predicts partly cloudy skies, with a low around 60. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

2. Reminder: Sendoff Ceremony for LCpl. Shanna Boyden Ueda Saturday

A Hero’s Welcome and the Warriors’ Watch Riders will host a send-off for LCpl Shanna Boyden Ueda, USMC of East Walpole. Shanna is being deployed to Afghanistan. A rally will be held at the Town Center at Veteran’s Memorial Statue, 135 School Street, Walpole at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

3. Country Fest at Gillette Stadium Starts Friday

4. Still Time to Register for 39th Walpole Labor Day Road Race

The 39th Annual Walpole Road Race will take place Labor Day, Sept. 3. It is one of the oldest road races in the area and features a 10K and 5K race. Over 600 participants are expected along with volunteers and spectators.

The 5K race begins promptly at 10 a.m., followed immediately by the 10K Race. Tables will open for registration at 8:30 a.m.

Proceeds to benefit the Walpole High School Boys & Girls Cross Country, Winter Track and Spring Track Teams
