As part of town administrator Michael Boynton's report to the board he announced that the town would be receiving prison mitigation funds in fiscal 2013 and are looking ahead to procure the funds for 2014, as well.
"We are finalizing the close out of the fiscal 2012 budget as well as waiting to see the final [Department of Revenue] numbers for the fiscal '13 now that the budget has been approved by the governor. The town of Walpole will, per the budget, receive prison mitigation funds again in fiscal 2013," said Boynton.

"I was with Representative Kafka and Senator Timilty today and they are pushing for that to be a mainstay in the 2014 budget as well," said selectmen chair Eric Kraus. "They don't see any reason for it not to be, and again, we appreciate the delegation's effort to make sure that we get that money because obviously it's desperately needed."

The selectmen approved a request for the Camy's 5K Run and David 5K Walk to be held in town on Nov. 10.
