From Walpole to London: Another Fun But Busy Day Across the Pond at Olympics

Really hard to believe there is only about four days left here in London. For as long as I've been looking forward to the Games, they seem to have flashed by faster than Usain Bolt!

Yesterday, another successful double session was completed at Olympic Stadium. Most of my work was done from the production truck, definitely the best seat outside of the stadium (albeit outside by merely feet!). It simply is amazing how the producers and directors work together and create their masterpiece inside the truck. I have to say, it brings back memories of my television studio production class completed last semester, except on a much grander level. At least 40 monitors capture the action at one time, making it nearly impossible to miss a shot. I can definitely see the things I learned in Gossa Tsegaye's class at Ithaca College unfolding in front of me, recognizing the terminology and production techniques used. Just listening to the director switch from camera to camera is amazing, his precision and sense of poise despite all the action going on around him, both in the truck and in the stadium.

Today (Friday), for the first time since track and field competition began, there was no morning session. After catching up on some much needed sleep, I went to the USA team house and store, checking out the cool merchandise. Inside the team house was everything you see Team USA athletes wearing, from their opening ceremony wardrobe to their medal ceremony windbreakers.

The store was located adjacent to Hyde Park, which we walked through for a little bit. When we were there, the Men's 10km Swimming event was taking place, so we stayed for a bit and saw a few athletes competing. On our way back to the Tube, we stopped by a cool McLaren auto showcase and got to see a few sweet rides.

By 5 p.m. we were back at the stadium ready for the evening session to begin. Friday was another great one from the Olympic Stadium, where the US performed extremely well. World and Olympic Records were toppled!

Sadly, tomorrow is the last day of track and field from the Stadium. Sunday I'll be reporting from the Men's Marathon, then will spend a few days exploring this great city that I now consider a home away from home.
