Walpole's Axe Palace Gets Bigger and Better at New Location

The guitar sale and repair shop moved this month to 3 Glenwood Ave. in Walpole.

The Axe Palace in Walpole just got bigger and better.

After being in a small space at 292 Main St. since 2009, owner Nicholas Yoffe picked up his picks, guitars and amps and moved to 3 Glenwood Ave. next to Finnegan's Wake earlier this month.

The move allows the 31-year-old to expand his guitar selling business from a mostly online venture to a more hands-on approach.

“At the old place it was mostly online because it was just a small, tiny place. This place is more designed so people can actually come in and try stuff out,” he said.

The showroom walls are lined with rare and high-end guitars that Yoffe said serious hobbyists and professionals would appreciate.

Some of his guitars are one-of-a-kind and others are from around the world, like Japan and France.

“This is more stuff for people who have been playing for awhile that are really into it, are in bands or doing recordings,” Yoffe said.

However, he said they do cater to beginner musicians as well.

The rest of the shop, which is currently under construction, will include a room for his Berklee College of Music trained technician to set up and repair guitars and an amplifier room for people to try out different equipment.

They even have enough room for four arcade games that children or drummers can play while they wait.

The store is open now and Yoffe said he is hoping the construction will be done by the end of April.

“It’s a work in progress but we’ve been getting a lot of customers and it’s fun. People that are into guitars have a good time here,” he said.
