Rep. Rogers Announces $840,000 Increase in State Funding for Walpole
The increase includes $374,018 in local aid.

BOSTON-Now that the Legislature has completed the process of overriding the Governor’s vetoes and the FY13 State Budget has been finalized, Representative John H. Rogers is pleased to announce the state budget contains very good news for Walpole for the coming year. After the passage of the House budget, Rogers continued to advocate for even higher local aid numbers and this has resulted in a substantial an increase to local aid for Walpole.
- Local Aid (Chapter 70 and Unrestricted General Government Aid combined) increase of $374,018 over FY12.
- $58,000 for the transportation cost of homeless students as required by the federal McKinney Vento Act
- $360,000 for special needs services through the full funding of the special needs circuit breaker as called for in the Rogers Amendment
- $50,000 for design work for the repair of Walpole’s most dangerous dams to enable them to be design ready and eligible for anticipated state funding of dam repair projects.
Once again, the Walpole Delegation, Sen. James Timilty, Rep. John Rogers, Rep. Louis Kafka, Rep. Paul McMurtry, Rep. Daniel Winslow were successful in bringing $750,000 in Prison Mitigation for Walpole. Long recognizing the burden of MCI Cedar Junction on the Town of Walpole, Rogers was the original author of this funding dedicated to Walpole.
