Walpole Daycare Owner Facing Child Endangerment Charges: Reports

WALPOLE, MA — The owner of an at-home daycare in Walpole is facing charges including child endangerment after being accused of attacking her husband with a baseball bat while three small children were in her care, according to multiple outlets that cite a police report.
The report stated that on Sept. 20, police found the woman—58-year-old Diane Fenton—standing in the middle of the road near her Plain Street home, holding a baseball bat after apparently swinging it at her husband, 60, and hitting him in the arms and torso as she chased him, The Boston Globe reported.
After handcuffing Fenton, police said they entered the home to find three children—ages three and four years old and six months—in the living room, according to the Globe.

Fenton has pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a household or family member, and three counts of reckless endangerment of a child, Boston.com reported.
She has been released on personal recognizance and ordered to stay away from her husband, refrain from alcohol, and not care for any children under the age of 14, according to the outlet.

Fenton attended court for a pretrial hearing Thursday, and will return Dec. 19, Boston.com reported.
