Walpole Gets Into Holiday Spirit During Community Events Saturday
Saturday started off with the Santa Parade and culminated with the tree lighting in Walpole Center
WALPOLE, MA - Hundreds of people turned out on Saturday for a day of holiday festivities that began in the morning with the Santa Parade and culminated later that evening with the lighting of the holiday tree.
The Walpole Santa Parade kicked off on Common Street, starting at Walpole High School. Santa, a sleigh, and trucks decorated with holiday themes rode to downtown Walpole, accompanied by dancers and performers. Santa arrived at the Town Common at about 12:30 p.m. to greet children and hear their Christmas wishes.
At 6 p.m., the annual tree lighting ceremony energized the crowd at the Walpole Town Common. Co-sponsored by Destination Downtown and the Walpole Chamber of Commerce, this event also featured Santa, who took pictures with adoring children. Singer Ed Jackowski performed holiday musical selections with carolers, while participants enjoyed hot chocolate and doughnuts.
