Walpole Obituary: Olive G. Allan

Ms. Allan was a former resident of East Walpole.

Olive G. (Williams) Allan, 97, formerly of Riverside, RI and an East Walpole resident from the 1940's until 1960 died quite unexpectedly August 10, 2012 in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, VA. Olive was the daughter of Clifford T. Williams and Ica Emmett Williams of Riverside. She was a proud 9th generation direct descendent of Rhode Island Colony founder Roger Williams. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas T. Allan Jr., her sisters and brother, all of East Providence. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Judith Allan Mitchel of Portsmouth, sons Thomas Allan III of Suffolk, VA and Geoffrey Allan of Edgartown, all former Walpole residents, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as sister-in-law Virginia (Pratt) Williams of East Providence. Olive was born in Riverside and was currently member of Green Acres Presbyterian Church, Portsmouth, a former member of United Church of Christ in Walpole and later, the Barrington RI Congregational Church. Olive was a faithful supporter of charities, PBS, and a patron of the arts. But above all, she loved children, her family, many friends, nature, and the woodlands and coast of New England. Her kind and generous spirit will be tremendously missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at Green Acres Presbyterian Church on August 29th 2012 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the family plot in Rehoboth at a future time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to the Green Acres Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
