Walpole Police Sgt. Hazeldine Leaves Department After 19 Years

The department's first female detective and sergeant became Director of the Municipal Police Training Committee's Randolph Police Academy.

WALPOLE, MA - Sergeant Jacklyn Hazeldine is working her final shift for the Walpole Police Department today, closing the book on 19 years of dedicated service to the Town of Walpole.

A Fitchburg native, Hazeldine began her career with the Walpole Police in October 2002, graduating from the Boylston Police Academy in March 2003. During her time as a patrol officer, she was a founding member of the Walpole Police R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Program for women and children, serving as the lead instructor for 16 years.

In addition, Hazeldine held a number of other specialty assignments within the department, including: Sex Offender Compliance Officer, Field Training Officer, Medical Officer, and Designated Infection Control Officer. She also was a member of the WPD bicycle and ATV Patrols, the Crisis Intervention Team, a founding member of the Warrant Unit, and served as liaison officer to the Home for Little Wanderers for seven years.

Hazeldine was responsible for the certification of all WPD personnel in the use of Naloxone (NARCAN) and Epi-Pens. She also served as the in-house CPR/AED instructor.

She was named WPD’s Officer of the Year in 2013, prior to being named the first female detective in department history in 2016. Hazeldine continued to make history in 2017, when she became the first woman to hold the rank of sergeant in the Walpole Police Department. Also, she has been the recipient of numerous department citations and local and state awards.

Hazeldine the became the Director of the Municipal Police Training Committee’s Randolph Police Academy, where she’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects training and development of student officers at the Randolph campus. she, her husband Jim, and their two sons will continue to reside in Walpole.
