Bentley Men’s Golf Opens Fall Schedule Monday
The Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational kicks off the golf season for the Falcons, who hope to return to a NCAA regional this year.

WALTHAM, MA — The Bentley University men’s golf team, coming off a 12th NCAA Division II regional appearance in the last 13 years, will open its fall season Monday and Tuesday with the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational at the Northern Spy Golf Club in Townsend.
First-year head coach Iain Highsmith took over a team that includes eight players with collegiate experience, among them seniors Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) and Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.).

Desjardins, a PING Division II All-Region honoree last season, had an outstanding spring season with a 74.9 stroke average. At the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional in May, he finished in the top ten and missed qualifying for the nationals by just two strokes.
Eaton, who missed the spring due to injury, achieved a 75.3 stroke average during the fall season. As a sophomore, the two-time Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree was selected as an individual to compete in the NCAA regional tournament.

The next most experienced Falcon is senior Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS), who had a 76.5 stroke average over eight rounds last season. Sophomore Andrew teDuits (Charlestown/Boston College HS) showed promise as a rookie, with a stroke average of 76.1.
The month of September for the Falcons also includes two tournaments hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, the Granite State Opener Sept. 16-17 and the Penmen Invitational Sept. 23-24.
