Bentley Wraps Regular Season With 17th Place Finish in Regional Primer
Bentley's golf team will wait until late Friday afternoon to see if its season will continue with an NCAA regional bid.

WHEELING, W.V. – The Bentley University men’s golf team closed out the regular season Tuesday by placing 17th among 26 teams in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional at the Oglebay Resort’s Jones Course, which will be the site of the NCAA Atlantic/East SuperRegional next month.
Following a first-round 316, the Falcons slipped six strokes to a 322 and finished the tournament with a 638. That was sixth among the nine East Region teams who competed in the two-day tournament.

Bentley’s top golfer during second round action was junior Chris Huban (Cohoes, N.Y./Albany Academy), who turned in a 79, an improvement of four strokes over Monday. His 36-hole score of 162 put him in a tie for 75th place.
Junior Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) led the Falcons in the tournament as he tied for 54th in a 130-player field with a 74-85-159. He was followed by senior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS) (t-60th, 80-80-160) and junior Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS) (t-66th, 79-82-161).

Charleston (W.V.) overcame a six-stroke day one deficit to edge Gannon University for first place by two strokes, 598-600. Medalist honors went to Glenville State’s Benjamin Fernandez, who won by eight strokes with a five-under 67-70-137.
