Confessed killer John Martorano on Monday recalled how he and James “Whitey" Bulger killed a Waltham man in 1974, according to the Boston Globe.
During tesimony at the federal courthouse in Boston, Martorano detailed how he and Bulger’s associates killed James Sousa, 36, of Waltham.

- Sousa, a Bulger associate, was allegedly rigging horse races with the Winter Hill Gang.
- As Sousa gave the dentist a fake gold brick. The dentist, however, was told it was real.
- The dentist brought his child to the meeting and gunshots rang out.
- Worried that Sousa would tell the police about the incident, the Winter Hill Gang, decided to kill Sousa.
- Sousa was taken to a garage in Somerville where he was told the gang would give him money for an attorney.
- “I walked in and shot [Sousa],” Martorano told the court, according to Globe columnist Kevin Cullen’s Twitter feed. “We had to get someone to bury him.”
- Martorano returned home and cleaned up while Bulger helped his associate, Stephen Flemmi, clean up Sousa’s blood.
- Sousa’s body was never found.
