Closed Waltham Italian Restaurant May Reopen: Report
Il Capriccio had to close its doors permanently because of the coronavirus, but there may be hope for it, according to a food blogger.

WALTHAM, MA — A popular Italian restaurant that shut down this spring because of the pandemic may actually be set to reopen in a new location nearby this fall, according to the Boston Restaurant Talk blog.
For nearly four decades Il Capriccio Ristorante e Bar sat near corner of Main and Prospect streets but closed permanently because of the coronavirus. Owner and executive chef Richie Barron announced the move on the restaurant's website and on social media last month.
Having spent some 46 years in the kitchen, Barron said it was time to take a break. But he left open the possibility that the restaurant may pop up in some other spot or form.

That possibility may come as soon as this fall, according to the Boston Restaurant Talk blog. According to a recent post the restaurant is set to open back up with a new executive chef but with largely the same staff in The Merc at Moody and Main, just a few blocks away.
The new location will have 124 seats along with two outdoor patios, according to the blog post. Executive Chef Nathan Allen who has trained in Michelin-starred French restaurants in the past, has most recently spent the past four years at the gastropub Glenville Stops in Allston is set to take over for Barron. According to Allen's LinkedIn profile he is influenced and inspired by healthy and vegetarian cuisine, local and sustainable products and emerging culinary trends.
