WALTHAM, MA — Former Waltham firefighter Lou Ruiz died last week from an unknown cause, according to the Waltham Fire Department.
Ruiz was appointed to the department on June 6, 2004 and worked there until March 21, 2017, serving the city for over 12 years.
"The Waltham Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of former Waltham Firefighter Lou Ruiz,” said the department in a Tweet Friday. Lou was appointed to the department on 6/6/2004 and served the City of Waltham until 3/21/2017. Rest in Peace Lou.”

Ruiz was also a member of the Waltham High School class of 1982.
