Jerry Remy's Family Invites Public To Pay Respects In Waltham

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial.

WALTHAM, MA — Jerry Remy's family will welcome the public to pay respects to the former Red Sox player and broadcaster at a Waltham funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, located at 773 Moody Street, according to the Boston Red Sox.

Remy died Saturday, Oct. 30 at the age of 68. He took a leave as color commentator for NESN's Red Sox Broadcasts on Aug. 4 and his last public appearance was Oct. 5, when he threw out the first pitch before the American League wild card game against the Yankees.

Remy played second base for the Red Sox for seven seasons and spent 33 years broadcasting. In 2004, Sports Illustrated named Remy as Massachusetts' favorite sports announcer.

Remy's family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mass General Cancer Center or the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund.

A private gathering for family and close friends will be held Friday, November 5th from 4 to 8 p.m.
