Man Accused Of Possessing Illegal Gun, Distributing Cocaine In Waltham

Police said the man violently resisted arrested and multiple officers were needed to detain him.

WALTHAM, MA — A 25-year-old man has been accused of possessing an illegal weapon and trafficking cocaine in Waltham, police said.

On Saturday, a Waltham police officer was patrolling a local parking garage when he saw two men inside a vehicle with the front passenger seat reclined back. The officer approached the men and told them there was no trespassing in the garage.

Prior to the arrival of backup, the officer said man in the passenger seat looked like he was planning to flee. Th officer also noticed items associated with the distribution of narcotics.

Police said the man violently resisted arrested and multiple officers were needed to detain him.

While pat-frisking him for weapons, officers discovered a magazine for a handgun, later discovered to contain 9 .40 caliber rounds, and a firearm. The man did not have a license to carry a firearm.

A further search of the suspect’s belongings revealed a considerable quantity of cocaine, totaling over 115 grams including packaging, and a large quantity of cash.

The man’s name has not been released. He is facing charges including Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Trafficking in Cocaine, Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Ammunition without FID/LTC.
