After the Waltham police released images of a man walking off with a bag of potatoes from a restaurant in town, he's reached out to them.

WALTHAM, MA — That was fast. Less than 24 hours after Waltham police released images of a man who they said grabbed a rather large bag of potatoes, he contacted them.

Police said after eating at a Waltham restaurant on Main Street, the man was caught on security camera snagging a 50 pound bag of pre-cut french fried potatoes on his way out the door.

"We are hoping that we can 'mash' all of the evidence together and come up with a suspect," police posted to Facebook Tuesday night tongue-in-cheek.
