• Barrett L. Gilchrist (boothbayregister.com) — Waltham readers may recognize the Gilchrist family name, as Barrett “Barry” Gilchrist’s grandson Jeffrey lives here and is among those mourning his passing at age 90. Barry, a Navy veteran and longtime Brae Burn Country Club member, built a career in building materials sales and cherished time between Massachusetts and Maine. His family will hold a Celebration of Life in 2026, with memorial gifts suggested to a Maine community group. 
• Technology Supercharges Opportunities for Rental Fraud (bankerandtradesman.com) — A Waltham-based landlord says rental-application fraud is surging across Greater Boston, with many applicants using fake identities and AI-generated documents to secure apartments. Massachusetts landlords blame rising rents, identity theft, and tougher state eviction laws for making scams more lucrative and harder to detect, warning that small property owners are especially vulnerable to costly, drawn-out cases.
