New Details About Waltham Attacks: Police
"The person responsible for these crimes appears to be lying in wait and attacking victims by surprise," police said Monday.

WALTHAM, MA — Waltham police said the person responsible for half a dozen random attacks at the Gardencrest apartment complex, is likely also responsible for another half a dozen attacks around the city.

The earliest attack happened at 5:30pm and the latest at 11:30 pm, police said.
Initially these attacks stuck to within Gardencrest apartment complex on Middlesex Circle, but recent attacks that follow a similar pattern have been reported in the downtown areas of Chestnut and Charles streets, police said.

"The Waltham Police are looking for the public's assistance in identifying the individual," police posted to social media along with a video during the weekend. "This person is a suspect in the string of recent assaults around Waltham."

After police received more than five reports of unprovoked attacks in the Gardencrest apartment complex between Nov. 10 and Nov. 21, the department issued a statement warning residents. On Friday, police issued reverse 911 calls warning residents as the attacks continued.
The reverse 911 call said that since the first five people reported assaults, the description of the attacker has changed.
Waltham resident David Camaros said he was on the phone throwing out his trash in the garbage behind his apartment building on Middlesex Road when someone attacked him using a heavy object from behind. "At this time it is unknown how many perpetrators are involved and responsible for these acts as physical descriptions have varied between white and black males of various heights," police said on the call Friday, warning residents to be aware of their surroundings when out after dark.
Although it's unclear how many attacks are attributed to this person or persons, between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30, there were 17 reports of assaults across the city, according to police logs, including four on Middlesex, and others on Prospect Street, Brown Avenue, Chestnut Street, Charles Street, Bedford Street, and Lexington Street.
By comparison, during October there were seven reports of assaults in the city: On Alder Street, the 700 block of Main Street, Lake Street, Willow Street, the corner of Adams Street and Chester Avenue, Fourth Avenue and Howard Street.
