Severe Thunderstorm Watch, High Wind Warning Issued for Waltham Area

The severe thunderstorm watch will last until 3 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning that will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the warning, the strongest winds can be expected in the Waltham area between 8 p.m. and midnight. Winds of 25-35 mph are expected and gusts up to 55 mph are possible.

The upgrade to a warning from the earlier advisory is because trees remain "fully leafed," which "will result in more damage than is normally associated with these wind speeds."
