'A Special Day In Waltham' Returns For 2025
The event is a collaboration between the Massachusetts Special Olympics and other community organizations. Here's what to know.
WALTHAM, MA — "A Special Day in Waltham" will return for a second year this spring, city officials announced this week.
The event is in collaboration between multiple local organizations and the Massachusetts Special Olympics.
Scheduled for May 31, the day is expected to be filled with sports and games including soccer, cornhole, fitness activities and sprints, a 25-yard dash, home run derby and ultimate frisbee.

"The Waltham Police Department and Waltham officials are teaming up with the Massachusetts Special Olympics, Opportunities for Inclusion, Waltham Disabled Services Commission, Waltham Recreation Department and many other volunteers and sponsors to host 'A Special Day in Waltham'," city officials said.
"All Individuals & athletes with developmental disabilities are invited to join in what will be an inclusive day of games, activities, music, food and much more."

Though anyone can attend, only those older than five will be able to play in the games.
Waltham Lions Club and Pizzi Farm food trucks will be at Veterans Field, where the event will be hosted, serving those in attendance.
