Waltham Firefighters Rescue Orphaned Baby Squirrels

Four orphaned male squirrels needed saving in Waltham earlier this week. Members of the Waltham Fire Department answered the call.

WALTHAM, MA — As the typical story goes, a cat climbs up a tree and needs saving with the help of a local firefighter.

So when four baby squirrels ran up a tree in Waltham earlier this week, it wasn't quite as expected that they would need assistance, too.

Alas, according to Waltham Animal Control, these four male squirrels were orphaned and did, in fact, need help. Enter Waltham firefighters.

"Many thanks to Waltham Fire and the guys on Tower 1 for coming to the rescue of some orphaned baby squirrels that were screaming up in a tree behind the [police department]," animal control officials said.
