Waltham Library's Eclipse Glasses Order Cancelled

The supplier was overwhelmed with orders.

WALTHAM—The Waltham Public library announced that the order of solar eclipse glasses they placed for library-goers has been cancelled. In a Facebook statement, the library wrote, "The supplier has been overwhelmed with orders and could not keep up with the demand. While news outlets across the nation reported that public libraries would be supplying eclipse glasses to patrons, their claims were misleading. We did out best to respond to the demand and regret we fell short."

To be fair, many libraries have advertised that they are giving out the so-called eclipse glasses before the media has caught on.

In a tweet in July, Boston Public Library officials said residents can visit many of the local BPL branches to snag a pair. The library tweeted: “Many BPL locations are handing out #solareclipse glasses. “Call your location or email ask@bpl.org w/ your location to see about availability.”
