Waltham Opens Spray Parks To Combat Heatwave

The city will open spray parks for two days as temperatures creep into the 90s. Here's what to know.

WALTHAM, MA — Though Memorial Day only marks the unofficial start of summer, the weather will certainly make it feel like summer has officially arrived this week.

With temperatures creeping toward the 90s on Wednesday and Thursday this week, Waltham announced it would open spray parks on those days.

City officials said the spray parks would be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., except Drake & McCabe, which will open at 3 p.m. after school hours.

Spray parks will only be open this week, officials noted, and will officially open at a date to be determined. The new Spray Park at 200 Trapelo Rd. will also remain closed this week.

Highs on Wednesday are expected to reach 89 degrees, with Friday bringing a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. However, the National Weather Service forecasts a mostly sunny and hot day with a high near 94.
