Waltham’s RTN Credit Union Member Wins College Scholarship Contest
Sophia Nguyen was one of 15 high school seniors who received a $1,500 scholarship through the CCUA's College Scholarship Contest.
WALTHAM, MA — RTN Federal Credit Union member Sophia Nguyen of Andover is a winner of this year’s Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) Credit Union College Scholarship Program.
Nguyen was one of 15 high school seniors who received a $1,500 scholarship through the CCUA's College Scholarship Contest and earned the CCUA’s Metro/Boston Chapter award.
Scholarship winners received their awards based on their applications, grade transcripts, and essays, which asked them to describe what career they wish to pursue when they complete their education and why.

“Becoming a biomedical engineer, and eventually pursuing a career in medicine, is the future of my journey in helping others,” Nguyen said in her essay.
