Waltham will quickly transition between winter holidays next Saturday when it hosts the annual parade and holiday lighting. What to know.
News release from City of Waltham.
WALTHAM, MA — Santa Claus is coming to town! Join us for another fun parade around the city on Saturday, November 30th, beginning at 2pm! Santa and Mrs. Claus will begin their trek at the Train Station on South Street (by Brandeis). You will be able to track Santa’s progress via the Waltham Fire Twitter account on the day of the event. Residents are encouraged to utilize "designated viewing areas" highlighted along the route, however please note that Santa will NOT be stopping at these locations. These are simply spots where families will have ample parking to wait in their warm cars until Santa gets closer to viewing. See here for a copy of the full parade route & designated viewing areas. It is estimated the full route will take about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete.
The Parade will conclude at the Waltham Common, where the City’s Annual Holiday Lighting festivities will will begin ~4:30pm. Waltham American Legion Band and Waltham Show Choir will be getting everyone in the holiday spirit performing some holiday classics, while Waltham Salvation Army serves hot cocoa.

After the Waltham Common is lit up (~5:00pm), there will be a special appearance by Santa! Parents make sure to bring your cameras to take your child’s photo with Santa outside in the gazebo!
Santa’s Mailbox (Provided by the Waltham Women’s Club) will also be set up for children to leave their letters to Santa during the holiday season. PLEASE NOTE: This year the mailbox will be set up IN FRONT OF CITY HALL and not in the gazebo. The deadline to submit letters is Monday, December 16th, to ensure a response from Santa before Christmas. (Be sure to leave a return address on each child’s letter).
