February 2023 Art Exhibit

Take some time to view the spectacular collection of art in our online February exhibit. The genres range in style, and the talent on display is second to none. This exhibit will be available for viewing online through February 28th.

Arts Wayland Presents: Four Song Creators

Arts Wayland Presents an evening of song craft with four award-winning songwriters, who will rotate performing their favorite songs, giving the audience insight into the inspiration. Enjoy the comfortable seating at the renowned Beatrice Hereford's Vokes Theater in Wayland, MA. Doors open at 7:30 with music beginning promptly at 8PM on February 11, 2023. Arts Wayland Presents: An Afternoon of Jazz Standards

Featuring vocalist Dominique Eade, with Neil Olmstead (piano) and Barry Smith (bass). Drawing from the American Songbook this subtle trio of Berklee professors blend the music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis in a gentle jazz format of melodies and improvisations. Dominique’s unique lyricism is supported by rich harmonic piano accompaniment lying atop a deeply supportive bass. The interplay between artists is at the core of this experiential trio. Mosaic Tapestry Workshop

In this popular hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to combine simple and complex patterns to create a mosaic tapestry or carpet. You will make a 5” X 10” tapestry by creating intricate designs using Italian murano glass millefiori, glass, jewelry, fabric and beads. Design templates will be provided. No grouting required. 111 Riverview Ave, Waltham on Saturday February 18th from 9:30-4:30

Youth Watercolor Class

Beginning on Monday, February 27th, Rahul Ray will teach a youth Painting With Watercolor Class at The First Parish in Wayland. In this class, you will develop or refine your skill in painting with watercolor. Sketching will be an integral part of the exercise. The class will be held in a studio setting and will focus on fundamental skills, such as observation, perspective, scale, and technique. Various subjects, including still-life, floral, and tapestry will be included in the exercises. The age range is from 6 years through 14 years old and will run for 8 weeks. After this course, success with watercolor, considered a difficult medium, will be all but guaranteed!

Adult Watercolor Class

Exercise your creative muscles in the New Year and learn a new skill to boot! Beginning on Monday, February 27th, Rahul Ray will teach a Painting With Watercolor Class geared towards adults at The First Parish in Wayland. In this class, you will develop or refine your skill in painting with watercolor. Sketching will be an integral part of the exercise. Wildlife and Landscape Mono Printing Class with Bryan Clocker

Join Bryan Clocker at 1 pm on Saturday, March 4th and make some fun mono prints of wildlife and landscapes in this beginner level class! This class, held in person at the First Parish in Wayland, lets you explore the basics of this printmaking technique called “mono printing”. In this class we will be using ink to paint wildlife and landscapes onto a plexiglass plate, then running it through a printmaking press to reveal a print. All materials will be provided for this class. Images will be available for you to use so you won’t have to draw. No art background required, just an interest and an open mind to exploring this wonderful and long lived tradition of printmaking!
