Ukulele Strum-Along, Country-Style
Join Marisa and Jerry of the A&W Ukulele Players for a fun, instructional jam session. Bring your ukes and stands, we’ll bring the country! Props and costumes welcomed. Our Seed Library Takes Root
Join us for the launch of our new Seed Library, presented, created, and donated by the Scouts of Wayland Girl Scout Troop 62720. They’ll talk about seed libraries in general, the process of creating one, and some general tips for growing your own sustainable garden. Documentarian Tracy Ullmann and forensic psychologist Katherine Ramsland examine the blurred line between victim and accomplice through the true story of a young man who was trapped into procuring victims for a vicious killer. 1969 Stonewall Rebellion
Join author Milo Todd on Zoom as he discusses the event that sparked the LGBTQ+ grassroots movement and led to the creation of Pride Month. What happened during the multi-night rebellion around the Stonewall Inn in June of 1969? Who took part and who stayed away? Hosted by the Joshua Hyde Public Library in Sturbridge, in partnership with a multitude of MA libraries. Register. Wednesday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Deepfakes and AI Media
Bard College film professor Joshua Glick leads a wide-ranging conversation about how Artificial Intelligence is shaping the film and TV industry, and “deepfakes:” AI-enabled videos that depict people doing or saying things they never did or said. Come with your hopes, questions, and concerns about this emerging media landscape. Hosted by the Watertown Public Library in collaboration with several MA Libraries. Register. Reading History: Import or Lose
If you established a Reading History in the old Minuteman catalog, you need to transfer it to the new one by the end of the month—or it’ll vanish forever! Simply log into your account in the old system and go to Reading History. Click the blue Start Recording My Reading History button. Any saved history in the old catalog will then load automatically. (A large History might take awhile to load.) Be sure to also import any lists you created in the old system.

SUMMER READING
Our 2024 Summer Reading Program Read, Renew, Repeat kicks off on June 18 with a magic show by Scott Martell. Other programming highlights include Andrew Silver’s one-man circus, live animals with Joy from Joys of Nature, a performance of Peter and the Wolf, a family concert with Rolie Polie Guacamole, as well as many fun craft and STEM challenges. Starting on June 10, kids can track their reading online or on paper logs to earn tickets for prizes. Teen program highlights include a Henna workshop, DIY pride buttons, yarn bombing, and Mexican metal tooling. Teens can also track their reading to earn tickets for prizes.

The Massachusetts Statewide Summer Library Program is funded by the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Additional funding for Wayland’s Summer Reading program came from the Friends of the Wayland Public Library, the Wayland Cultural Council, and the Arthur Ashley Williams Foundation.

Music, Story, Fun! with Ms. Janet
Join Ms. Janet for a musical storytime. She’ll bring her ukulele, rainbow bells, and puppets! We will meet in the Children’s Room. For ages birth through age 4, with caregivers. Please register. Thursdays, June 20, June 27 and July 25 at 10:30 a.m.
Storywalk Kickoff at Hannah Williams Playground
Join Ms. Pam and Ms. Jodi (from Family ACCESS Community Connections) at the Hannah Williams Playground to celebrate the opening of the Story Walk of Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! by Bob Barner. Drop in anytime between 10:30 and 11:30, walk the storywalk, do a scavenger hunt, and make a craft! For ages 3 and up, with caregiver. Please register HERE. Saturday, June 15.

Silver Circus
