Grenade Found On Wayland Elementary School Grounds
An inert World War II grenade was found on the property of an elementary school Tuesday, prompting an evacuation, according to reports.

WAYLAND, MA — An elementary school was evacuated after a student discovered a metal object Tuesday, according to police.
The object found at Loker Elementary School was initially described as resembling a grenade.
Officers responded at 3:23 p.m. The building had been open to students and faculty for an after-school program.

The building was evacuated, and police and firefighters requested the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad.
The bomb squad discovered the metal object was an inert World War II grenade. It was removed from the premises, police said in a statement.
