Jeanne Downs Back On Wayland School Committee After Vacancy
Five residents applied to fill the seat left open by former member Jessica Polizzotti.
WAYLAND, MA — Longtime Wayland School Committee member Jeanne Downs is returning to the body after stepping down this spring to fill a vacancy.
Downs was picked from among five candidates who applied to fill the seat left open by Jessica Polizzotti, who resigned in May. Downs served three terms on the committee before bowing out of the spring election along with incumbent Chris Ryan.
The other candidates who applied to fill Polizzotti's seat were: Steven Glovsky; Sheetal Acharya; Kenneth Helvig; and Craig Gruber. A joint school committee and select board meeting to pick the finalist was delayed in early June because Gruber unable to attend due to military service.
