WAYLAND, MA — Police are investigating following an incident of anti-Semitic vandalism. Police responded to a report of vandalism on Rice Road at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Police arrived and found that large swastikas had been painted on two separate places on the road.

The Wayland Department of Public Works was called to cover the paint.

"There is no place for this kind of hatred and bigotry in our community," Acting Police Chief Ed Burman said in a statement. "Every resident deserves to live their life free of harassment and hatred, and we will do everything in our power to support our community."

Wayland police detectives are investigating and are working in partnership with the Massachusetts State Police Fusion Center. Police have also been in contact with the Anti-Defamation League New England to support the department and community in the investigation.

Anyone with information or who noticed suspicious activity in the area of Rice Road is asked to call the Wayland Police Department at 508-358-4721 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 508-358-1726.

Last year, Wayland police investigated racist graffiti found at Wayland High School.
