The Lost Ski Area of Wayland: Buzzy's Bump

The slope even had a tow, and the Wayland High School Ski Team practiced there.

WAYLAND, MA — Do you remember a small slope with a rope tow behind Wayland High School? According to several Wayland residents - both former and current - there was, and it was called "Buzzy's Bump."

According to information submitted to the New England Lost Ski Areas Project by several who remember skiing the Bump in the '70s, and even recall the Wayland High School Ski Team practicing there in the '80s.

"I skied there before the lift was installed through a lesson program that was run by the Ski Club of Wayland," wrote Gordon Pinkham. "At that time, the club maintained the hill from cutting brush in the fall to foot packing after a snow fall so that lessons could be given. The town installed the rope tow in the early 70's
