Multiple Departments Respond To Wayland House Fire

WAYLAND, MA — Firefighters from across the region joined forces in Wayland Thursday evening to battle a fire in a home in a neighborhood off Old Connecticut Path, according to the departments.

The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. Thursday in a home at 19 Highgate Road just south of Wayland High School. The fire grew to two alarms after firefighters arrived.

"First arriving crews encountered a fire in the kitchen area with extension into the walls and ceiling. A second-alarm response was requested, and the fire was quickly knocked down. There were no injuries," Wayland Fire Chief Neil McPherson said in a news release.

Firefighters from Natick, Framingham, Sudbury and Lincoln all responded to help with coverage and fighting the fire.

The fire was under control by around 7:30 p.m., according to the Wayland fire department. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Thursday night.
