Nominations are being sought for Wayland residents or organizations who make a difference in the town's life.

WAYLAND, MA — Each year at the Wayland Town Meeting, the Wayland Public Ceremonies Committee brings with it an announcement of the names of citizens or organizations to be recognized for their contributions to the town’s governance, to the community’s quality of life, or to serving important needs among our townspeople.

In 2009 this honor was named the Lydia Maria Child for outstanding citizenship. Child was a national heroine who resided in Wayland in the mid-nineteenth century who championed the causes of abolition, equality and human rights.

Any resident may submit nominations for this award. The candidate nominated may be a resident, local group, organization or an employee of the town.
