ADULT SERVICES
The Women of the Mayflower
Eighteen wives accompanied their husbands on the 1620 Mayflower voyage. Only four were alive a year later, including Mary Brewster, wife to Elder William Brewster. The oldest woman in the community, she took in orphaned children and nursed the sick as best she could in their dire living conditions. Katherine Hauesien, a Brewster descendant, shares stories from her seven books about what life was like for Mary and the other women. Hosted by the Tewksbury Public Library. Virtual. Tuesday, July 2 at 7 p.m.

A Virtual Tour of the Bata Shoe Museum
Feet are the same around the world, but what we wear can be so different! Learn why with a virtual tour of Toronto's Bata Shoe Museum. As the only museum in North America dedicated to footwear, the BSM showcases 4,500 years of history and nearly 15,000 artifacts in its collection. Led by one of their friendly and knowledgeable docents, and hosted by the Ashland Public Library in partnership with several MA libraries. Monday, July 8 at 7 p.m.

It’s Open Mic Night at the Library! Settle into a comfortable seat in our beautiful Round Room and enjoy the lightly amplified efforts of whichever brave souls have signed up to share their music. Or come a little early and sign up to play two or three numbers yourself. Tuesday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The Birth, Death, and Rebirth of Stone's Bridge, 1674-2024
The "New Bridge" was built over the Sudbury River at the south end of town in 1674. It went on to help drive the British out of Boston, found Framingham, and play host to Henry David Thoreau. It died as a bridge in 1955, but was reborn as a monument and one of our most photographed sites. Tom Sciacca, Wayland’s representative to the River Stewardship Council, tells its story. In person and virtual. Co-sponsored by the Council as part of Riverfest 2024. Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m.
Fields Acoustic Concert
One voice, two guitars. Dave (guitar and vocals) and Joe (guitar and octave mandolin) offer covers and originals to weave a tapestry of acoustic and electric textures. Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m.
Our Seed Library Takes Root
In a seed library, you check out seeds instead of books. While you can keep your garden and our seed supply sustainable by replanting the next generation of seeds after harvesting your plants, there is no need to return anything to library. Check out two seed packets per planting season, and make our community more beautiful and sustainable.
