Reelect David Watkins as Selectman

He will make a difference

I met Dave Watkins three years ago, standing in the Town Building parking lot, holding signs for our respective elections. We talked at some length to each other and Dave, especially, to voters about his vision of what is needed for Wayland. He listened and communicated clearly his sound ideas to residents’ questions. His vision then, as now, is what is needed in Wayland. Please look at his webpage at https://watkins4wayland.com/.

His education in finance and professional experience, especially in human resource management, financial planning, and long-term strategic planning is sorely needed in Wayland. For too long, other Select Board members have made decisions based on short-term considerations and lacked the ability to differentiate between trivial and important decisions. As a result, we have had real estate tax increases well above inflation, a continuing series of Open Meeting Law violations, senior personnel mistakes, and legal missteps. During his first term on the Select Board, Dave has tried to promote long-term planning for both operating budgets and capital projects. Dave’s continuing presence on the Select Board is important to promote this planning and for the Selectmen to make wise decisions for Wayland. Please re-elect David Watkins.
