Route 27 Closed In Wayland Due To 'Utility Emergency'

WAYLAND, MA — Drivers should avoid Route 27 through Wayland Tuesday afternoon due to a "utility emergency."

The fire department shut down both directions of the road around 2 p.m. after an electrical line fell.

The power line fell near Bow Road, but Route 27 was closed between near the Wayland Free Public Library and Glezen Lane, according to the town.

"Route 27 will be closed in both directions for a few hours while Eversource makes repairs to the power lines. It is closed at the intersection of Rt 27/Rt 126 and Rt 27/Glezen," the fire department tweeted around 3:30 p.m.

The utility problem had caused a small power outage affecting about 600 customers in Wayland as of 4 p.m., according to Eversource.
