Sudbury Community Food Pantry To Officially Open In Wayland

WAYLAND, MA — A food pantry that has called Sudbury home for three decades will celebrate its grand opening in a nearby town.

The Sudbury Community Food Pantry will celebrate its grand opening at 534 Boston Post Rd. in Wayland. The new 3,250-square-foot facility, which was finished in August, is the first permanent home for the food pantry.

“This building is more than walls and shelves — it’s a symbol of dignity, stability, and hope,” said John Thomas, Executive Director of SCFP. “For the first time in our history, we can serve families in a space designed specifically for them — with dignity, accessibility, and efficiency in mind.”

Before the purchase, SCFP operated at the Lady of Fatima/Ascension Church on Concord Rd. in Sudbury. Now, its new location was purchased without a mortgage, thanks to donations from local businesses and philanthropists, according to the food pantry.

Last year, SCFP distributed nearly half a million lbs of food and served nearly 1,000 families from 85 cities and towns.

The ceremony, which welcomes local officials, donors and community partners, will be on Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
