Wayland Honors All Who Served With Veterans Day Ceremony

The ceremony will be held outside the Wayland Veterans Memorial on Monday.

WAYLAND, MA — This year’s program will include a Keynote Address given by Captain Ralph Roper lll, MBA, PMP Operations Officer at DEVCOM Soldier Center of the US ARMY Soldier Systems Center in Natick, MA, and a musical ensemble performed by the Wayland High School Woodwind Trio.

The Wayland Veterans Day Ceremony – hosted by the Wayland Public Ceremonies Committee – will be held outside at the Wayland Veterans Memorial (Wayland Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA) on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

The program will begin with a performance of the National Anthem, sung by Wayland High School student, Margaret Agyeman. The Posting of the Colors and Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Wayland Boy Scout Troop 1, Cub Scout Pack 1, and the Wayland Girl Scouts.

An Invocation will be given by Rabbi David Finkelstein of Congregation Or Atid of Wayland followed by welcoming remarks from Richard P. Turner, USN RET., Chair of the Public Ceremonies Committee and Purple Heart recipient, and Carol Martin, Vice Chair of Wayland’s Select Board.

This year’s Keynote Address will be given by Captain Ralph Roper lll, MBA, PMP Operations Officer at DEVCOM Soldier Center of the US ARMY Soldier Systems Center in Natick, MA. The presentation of Wayland’s Freedom Prize will be awarded to the Class of 2024 Wayland High School graduates Selena Liu (United States Naval Academy) and David Gruber (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute NROTC).

The American Legion Post #133 Rifle Salute will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and the playing of Echo Taps by members of the Wayland High School Band. The Veterans Day Ceremony will conclude with the Benediction.

Light refreshments will be offered after the conclusion of the ceremony in the large hearing room at Wayland Town Building. We wish to thank Tina Pimentel, Grade 3 teacher at Loker Elementary School, and all of her students for the beautiful placemats they made in appreciation of all who have served our great nation, as well as Wayland Starbucks for their gracious donation of coffee.
