Wayland Man Cited After Child, Father Struck By Car In Southborough

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA — A man was cited following a pedestrian crash that left a 2-year-old injured on Saturday morning.

Police responded to a crash near 33 Main St. in Southborough at around 10:30 a.m. Officers learned a family of four was crossing the street, and the father and his son were struck by an SUV, according to the Southborough police.

Thomas Turner, 85, of Wayland, was driving the SUV, according to police. Police said he did not slow down while the family was in the crosswalk.

The child was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening, while the father was not injured.

Turner will be cited on charges of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and a Crosswalk Violation. Soutborough police also filed an immediate threat license suspension request with the RMV.
